A walk in the old town Buda.
A weekend in Budapest

Explore the home of the goulash
Budapest is widely known for thermal baths and goulash, but there are also a lot more to explore. Maria went to Budapest for a long weekend filled with architecture, music and wine-tasting.
The two cities Buda and Pest are today tied together by no less than 6 bridges over the river Donau. Pest is the commercial centre with shopping boulevards and restaurants whereas Buda is the old town.
Maria went to Budapest for a long weekend – here are her best tips:
1. Enjoy good food
Try the Asian restaurant Fusion at Vasi utca 20. Unusual interior and impressive Nasi Goreng for 2500 HUF, less than 10 euros. The Music Restaurant Avocado at Nyary Pal utca 9, is another favourite with traditional Hungarian food and live music.
2. Go by metro!
It's easy and cheap to go by metro in Budapest. A one-way ticket is around1-2 euros and a three-day pass is about 11. The hotels have deals with reliable taxi companies; let them make the reservation if you want to go by taxi.
3. Go wine-tasting
On the House of Wines in the old castle in Buda has wine-tasting. For 4400 HUF you'll get a glas and a bag of bread and can explore the wine cellar and its around 50 red and white wines on your own.
4. Jazz the night away
Who would have thought that Budapest was a jazz city? My tip is Fat Mo's Music Club on Nyary Pal down by the tourist area. Both the atmosphere and the music are perfect for a Saturday night!
