1. Book ahead
The prices are often better if you book early – make your reservations well in advance.
2. Check and compare different dates
Try different dates for departure – you can save a lot by being flexible. Avoid local vacations and public holidays and look for price top lists and summaries.
3. One-way tickets
Two one-way tickets with different companies are sometimes cheaper than a return ticket travelling with one company only.

A detour with a low fares airline can be cheaper than going straight to your destination with a big expensive company. Just make sure to have enough time in transit.

9. Taxes and fees
Taxes and fees might vary heavily between different destinations. Find out if taxes are included in the price, otherwise it might not be as cheap as it first sounds.Don't pay twice for fees like cancellation insurance that might be included in your own travel insurance already.
10. Pay with a credit- or debit card
Most credit- and debit cards will give you a compensation for delays and lost luggage. Also, a cancellation insurance are often included if you pay with a card. Check with your bank or card issuer.
